Cockscomb #167 is a moderate 7-mile out-and-back hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It starts around 4,500 feet and climbs to about 4,640 feet, a gain of roughly 157 feet, and it works well with other trails in the area. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Sedona show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 79°F, while June and July average in the mid-90s. Bikes and horses are both allowed, so the route suits riders and pack animals. Aerie #168 lies just 0.1 mile away, and Bear Mountain #54 and the Bear Mountain climbing area are each about a mile off.
