Bear Mountain #54 is a 4.6-mile out-and-back hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest, about 3.8 miles from West Sedona, Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated easy, with a one-way climb of 1,865 feet from a low point of about 4,570 feet to a high of about 6,470 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation run around 69°F and 76°F. July and August are warmer, with highs in the low 80s, and August brings the most wet days of the year. Horses are allowed on the trail, but bikes are not. The Doe Mountain hike starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Bear Mountain Area climbing area and Cockscomb #167 are both within about 0.6 mile. For an overnight stay, Crescent Moon Ramada is about 5.6 miles off.
