Deadhorse Canyon is a moderate out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Palisades Ranger District. The trail is about 2.6 miles long, with an elevation gain of 1,379 feet, taking you from a low point of about 7,547 feet to a high of about 8,957 feet. The route is on natural surface, and it is open year-round. Bikes and horses are both allowed, so the trail works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The climb is a steady one, and the trail is best suited to a day trip. The nearest neighbors are Red Slide and Cabin Creek, both about a mile away, and Observation Peak at about 1.4 miles. For an overnight base, Wolf Creek Campground sits about 4.6 miles off.
