1st Boulder is a hard hike in the East Humboldts Wilderness, part of the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in northeastern Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs about 1,800 feet over 6 miles, from a low of about 7,840 feet to a high of about 9,650 feet. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The route is rated hard, so plan for a steep, sustained climb. 2nd Boulder sits just 0.2 miles away, and the East Humboldt Highline Trail (#026) and Boulder Lake are both about 2.5 miles off. Angel Lake Campground, roughly 9 miles away, offers a place to stay.
