Deadman's Pass is an easy out-and-back hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, about 2.4 miles long with a total elevation gain of 317 feet. The trail runs from a parking area at Boynton Canyon, and the route rises from about 4,508 feet to a high point of 4,714 feet before returning. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Sedona show October highs around 79°F with lows near 51°F, and April highs around 75°F with lows near 44°F. That station sits roughly 500 feet lower than the pass, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The trail is open to both horses and bikes, and it makes an easy pairing with other routes in the area. Boynton Canyon #47 and Boynton Vista are both within a quarter mile, and the Secret Canyon climbing area is about 0.4 miles away. For an overnight stay, Crescent Moon Ramada is about 6 miles off.
