Cache National Forest

Cache National Forest spans nearly 200,000 acres across northern Utah, offering a mix of high-elevation terrain, water access, and open ridgelines typical of USFS land in the region. The forest supports a range of recreation: hikers and backpackers find established trails, anglers fish the streams and lakes, and hunters pursue game during designated seasons. Dispersed camping is available throughout the forest, and scenic drives connect key access points and viewpoints.

Access is straightforward from nearby towns, though mountain weather and winter snow dictate the practical season. Late spring through early fall—roughly May through October—offers the most reliable conditions for most activities. Winter closes higher elevations and many backcountry routes, though the lower forest can be passable in dry periods. Expect crowds to concentrate in summer; shoulder seasons and weekdays offer solitude and cooler conditions for hiking and fishing.
