Mccubbins 580 is an easy hike of about 2.1 miles on natural trail in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back that gains about 150 feet in elevation, with the steepest stretch at roughly 0.88 miles in, where the grade reaches about 12 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days.
