Mccubbins 582 is an easy hike of about 2 miles in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is natural-surfaced and shaped as an out-and-back, with a rolling climb that reaches a high point of about 3,527 feet. The route gains roughly 675 feet in elevation over the round trip, with the steepest stretch at about 1.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 12%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days.
