Camas Trail #490 is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Barlow Ranger District. The trail is about 2.2 miles long, with a low point of 3,140 feet and a high of 3,242 feet, and it gains about 100 feet of elevation. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.24 miles in, with a 7% grade. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Several other trails sit close by, including Clear Creek and Camas, each about 0.8 miles away, and Rim Rock at about a mile. For an overnight stay, Bear Springs Campground is about 2.2 miles off.
