Camas is a moderate hike of about 4.9 miles in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 142 feet, from a low point of roughly 3,007 feet to a high of about 3,165 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.3 miles in, with a grade of about 14 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The Clear Creek hike starts just 0.1 mile away, and the McCubbins DB Trail #576C and Camas Trail #490 are both within a mile. Bear Springs Campground is about 2.1 miles off for an overnight stay.
