Mccubbins 581A is an easy, short hike of about 1.3 miles in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and sits on natural ground, with a low point of about 3,309 feet and a high of about 3,351 feet. The climb is gentle, with a total gain of about 106 feet for the round trip, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.48 miles in. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Government Camp show July and August highs around 69 to 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The hike takes about half an hour. Mccubbins 582 and Clear Creek are both about a mile away, and White River Station campground is about 3.3 miles off.
