Crest Loop Nordic is a 2.16-mile out-and-back hike in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in Oregon. It is an easy to moderate route with a total elevation gain of 1,166 feet over 4.3 miles, so the round trip includes both the climb and the descent. The trail starts at the high point, 6,074 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early, with a 20% grade at about 0.15 miles. The climb is rolling, and the low point is at 5,654 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter months bring snow on eight to nine days and highs in the mid-30s. That station sits about 1,500 feet lower, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Mt Ashland campground is about 1.2 miles away, and the Bull Gap-Nordic cross-country ski area is 0.3 miles off. The Summit hike is about a mile away, and climbers can head to Mt. Ashland's Dream Boulder, roughly 1.7 miles out.
