Shady Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Eagle Cap Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon. It sits within the forest's ranger district, and the nearest town is Joseph, about 10 miles away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Joseph show July and August highs around 79 to 80°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. The campground is not reservable, so plan on arriving and finding a spot on site. Arrow Forest Camp is less than a mile away, and Turkey Flat Forest Camp is about 1.4 miles off. For hiking, the Minam Lake Trail starts under a mile away and the Billy Jones Trail is about 1.3 miles away.
