Lily Lake Trail #639 is a short, easy cross-country ski route in Colorado's Gunnison Ranger District, part of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is just 0.14 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 24 feet. It starts at about 10,300 feet and reaches a high point of 10,328 feet, with the steepest stretch at 0.08 miles in. Winter is the natural season for this trail. Typical averages from the nearby Crested Butte weather station show January highs around 26°F with lows near -7°F, while July highs reach about 76°F. That station sits roughly 1,460 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Lily Lake Trail, a longer cross-country ski route, lies about 0.3 miles away. Lily Lake, a mountain biking area, is about 0.7 miles off, and Kebler Pass Camping Area and Splains Gulch Camping Area are both within about a mile and a half.
