Beaver Ponds is an easy hike of about 1.1 miles on natural trail in the Gunnison Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado. The Forest Service manages the land, and the nearest town is Floresta, about 3 miles away. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 250 feet, from a low point of roughly 9,300 feet to a high of about 9,570 feet. Horses are allowed, and bikes are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Crested Butte weather station show July highs around 76°F with lows near 40°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-20s. The Ohio Pass Snowmobile and Old Ohio Pass Ski trails sit within half a mile. Kebler Pass Camping Area and Splains Gulch Camping Area are both about 3 miles away.
