Woods Walk is a short ski touring route in Colorado's Gunnison Ranger District, part of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The trail is about half a mile long, rising from 8,961 feet to 9,012 feet, a total gain of 35 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 0.18 miles in, where the grade reaches 4 percent. The route sits in the high country around Crested Butte, and the closest town is Crested Butte itself, about a mile away. The trail is a short outing rather than a full-day commitment, and it pairs easily with other activities in the area. For comfortable weather, summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from the nearby Crested Butte weather station run from highs around 70°F in June to about 76°F in July, with lows near 40°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 26°F and lows near -7°F. Powerline, a cross-country ski route, is about 0.2 miles away, and the Woods Walk Conn. mountain biking trail is about 0.3 miles off. The Slate River, about a mile away, offers canoeing, and Crested Butte RV Resort, roughly 3 miles away, has camping.
