Pine is a short, easy hike in Tennessee, about a mile from the town of Green Acres. The route is an out-and-back that starts and ends at the low point, around 879 feet, and climbs to about 1,078 feet before descending back. The climb totals about 512 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.4 miles in, where the grade reaches about 11 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run a bit cooler. Bobcat and Southern Mission are both within about a third of a mile, and Goliath wall offers climbing about a mile away. Wolftever Creek, a canoeing spot, is roughly 2.5 miles off.
