Forest is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Tennessee, about 0.8 miles from the town of Green Acres. The route is roughly 1.5 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 406 feet, and it reaches a high point of 1,169 feet. The climb is gentle overall, with the steepest stretch at about 0.45 miles in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Chattanooga show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the higher ground run a little cooler. The hike takes about half an hour, and it makes an easy pairing with other outings in the area. Pine and Southern Mission are both within half a mile, and Bobcat is about 0.5 miles away. For climbing, Goliath wall is about 1.3 miles off.
