Coyote is a short, easy loop hike in Tennessee, about 0.7 miles from the town of Collegedale. The route is roughly a mile long, with a low point of 985 feet and a high of 1043 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.45 miles in, with a grade of 9 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Chattanooga show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar at about 74°F by day and 50°F at night. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the hike, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Several other trails start close by. Rolling Green is about 0.1 mile away, and Copperhead and Mid Ridge are each about 0.2 mile off. For climbing, Goliath wall is roughly 0.8 mile away.
