Prow Area

Prow Area is a bouldering area in Pennsylvania, about 0.8 miles from Mount Gretna Heights. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with The Matrix Area and Highball just 0.1 mile away and Upper Matrix at a similar distance. The Adjustor Boulder is about 0.2 mile off, so the whole area is compact and easy to explore in one visit. The climbing here is all bouldering, with 11 routes spread across the V0 to V8 range. The easiest is Serenity Crack at V0, and the hardest is The Prow at V8. Cousin IT is a V4, and Islander runs V7-8. The routes are listed with their grades, so climbers can pick a problem that suits their level. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lebanon show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. That station sits about 423 feet lower than the area, so temperatures on the boulders run a little cooler.
