Smiley Area is a bouldering area in Pennsylvania, about 0.8 miles from Mount Gretna Heights. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Smiley Boulder, Shamu and Box Boulders all within about a tenth of a mile. The area is a bouldering destination, with four routes listed, all rated on the V scale from V0 to V5. Skate Shoes is the easiest at V0, and Paula is the hardest at V5. Multiple Personalities, a V4, was first climbed by Joel Torretti. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lebanon run to highs around 72°F in May and 76°F in September, while July highs average about 84°F. The closest trails are the Fraggle Rock Trail, a mountain biking route about 0.4 miles away, and the Chautauqua Trail, a hike about 1.1 miles off.
