The Matrix Area is a bouldering area in Pennsylvania, about 0.8 miles from Mount Gretna Heights. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Upper Matrix and Prow Area each about 0.1 mile away and Highball about 0.2 mile off. The area is a compact hub of bouldering, with eight routes spread across it, all rated on the V scale from V0+ to V7. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lebanon run from highs around 72°F in May to about 76°F in September, with July the warmest at about 84°F. That station sits roughly 430 feet lower than the area, so temperatures here run a little cooler. The routes here are all bouldering, and the grade range runs from V0+ to V7. The Green Marble Arete is the easiest at V0+, and Crouching Tiger is the hardest at V7. Spring Chicken and Year of the Dragon are also among the more challenging options, at V5 and V6.
