Bat Wall is a climbing area in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, within the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site. It sits on city land, and the surrounding area is a cluster of climbing spots, with Spring Rock and Broughton Bluff both about 0.1 mile away. The area has 42 routes, mostly sport climbing with a few trad and boulder options. The grades run from 5.10a up to 5.14, with the median around 5.12a. Some of the named routes include Mystic Void at 5.10a, Well Hung at 5.11a, and Bad Omen at 5.12b. The hardest is Open Project: Count Chalkula Extension at 5.14. Summer is the warmest stretch, with typical July and August highs around 81°F and lows near 56°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station in Troutdale. Winter is much cooler, with typical January highs in the mid-40s. The Lewis & Clark Trail 400 and 1000 Acres Road are both within half a mile for a walk. Beaver Creek, about 1.6 miles away, offers canoeing.
