Voodoo is a hard hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. The route is an out-and-back that rises from about 4,356 feet to a high point of 4,428 feet, with a total elevation gain of 713 feet over the course of the 6.1-mile trip. The trail is natural-surfaced, and the steepest stretch comes at about 2.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 10 percent. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not, so plan around that when you pack your gear. The hike is open year-round and takes about 2.5 hours to complete, making it a good option for a day of moving through the forest. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the Sunriver weather station, about 10 miles away, show July highs around 84°F and September highs near 76°F, with winter lows in the 20s. The station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run a little cooler. Close by, Kent's and Pinedrops are both hikes within about a mile, and the climbing areas at Power Lines and Tick Ranch are roughly a mile and a half off. For an overnight stay, Three Creek Lake campground is about 10 miles away.
