Toothpick is a short, easy hike in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 2 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 48 feet, and it makes a simple out-and-back. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Howard Prairie Dam show July and August highs around 79°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days. The trail is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. Lower Marty's, Lewis Loops and Gyre all sit about 0.3 miles away. Mt. Ashland Campground is about 5.5 miles off.
