Ranch Dike is a short, easy hike in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 1.4 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 10 feet. The high point is 48 feet, and the low point is 23 feet, so the climb is nearly flat, with the steepest stretch at about 0.58 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. Summer is the warmest time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Troutdale show July and August highs around 81°F with lows near 56°F, while winter highs sit in the mid-40s. The hike starts close to several other trails, including Boundary, Confluence and Meadow, each about 0.1 mile away. Climbers can find the (1) North Face and (2) Hanging Gardens areas about 0.4 mile off.
