Confluence is an easy, flat out-and-back hike of about 2.5 miles in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, managed by the Forest Service. It sits at a low point of about 23 feet, with the high point at about 36 feet, so the route is nearly level. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.2 miles in, with a grade of about 4 percent. Summer is the warmest time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Troutdale run to highs around 81°F in July and August, with lows near 56°F. Winter is much cooler, with January highs around 44°F and lows near 35°F. Several other trails start right next to the route, including Ranch Dike, Boundary and Meadow, each about 0.1 mile away. Climbers can find the (1) North Face area about 0.4 mile off.
