Piety is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.8 miles with a total elevation gain of 550 feet, set in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. The trail runs on natural surface and is open seasonally from June 1 to October 31. The Army Corps of Engineers manages the land. The climb starts with the steepest stretch at about 0.06 miles in, where the grade reaches 28 percent, but it eases from there. The trail's high point is 2,008 feet, and the low point is 1,574 feet, with roughly half the gain on each leg. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Detroit Dam weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with only four or five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and frequent rain. Piety Island Campground sits just 0.1 mile away, and Cove Creek Campground is about 0.6 mile off. Stahlman Point and the Detroit Lake State Recreation Area are each about a mile from the trail.
