Phil's Shevlin Park is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest, about half a mile from the town of Bend. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and sits at roughly 3,900 feet, with a high point of about 4,005 feet. The route is about a mile long, with a total climb of about 200 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.11 miles in, with a grade of about 7 percent. The climb is back-loaded, so the high point is reached before the return trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bend show July highs around 84°F with lows near 49°F and only about two wet days. Winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days a month from December through February. The hike makes an easy pairing with other outings in the area. Miller's Trail and the Western Larch Trail are both within half a mile, and the Skyliners Road climbing area is about 0.5 miles away. The Deschutes River, about 2.7 miles off, offers paddling.
