Old Skyline Trail #655 is an easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Hood River Ranger District. The trail is short, about 2.2 miles long, and the one-way climb is a modest 211 feet to a high point of 3,259 feet, with the starting point at about 3,065 feet. The steepest part of the route comes at about 0.83 miles in, with a grade of about 13 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Government Camp show July and August highs around 69 to 70°F, with only about four wet days a month. The station sits roughly 720 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. The hike sits close to several other spots. Sleepy Hollow and Oasis Boulders, climbing areas, are each within half a mile. The Lake Branch Cascades Trail #618A starts about 0.6 miles away, and Lost Lake campground is about a mile off.
