Lakeshore is a 3.1-mile loop hike on natural trail surface in the Hood River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon. The trail runs from Huckleberry Mountain Trailhead and sits at a low point of 3,146 feet, with a high of 3,199 feet and a total elevation gain of about 80 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 69 to 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. That station sits about 800 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the lakeshore run a little warmer. The Lost Lake Vista and Old Skyline hikes start within a quarter mile, and Lost Lake campground is about 1.3 miles away. Paddlers can head to the West Fork Hood River, roughly 2.2 miles off.
