Rocky Point is an easy, 2.2-mile out-and-back hike on the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon. The trail climbs about 157 feet from its starting point at roughly 3,398 feet to a high point of about 3,454 feet, then descends back to nearly the same elevation. It is a natural-surface route, and the Forest Service lists it as not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp, Oregon, run to highs around 69 to 70°F in July and August with only about four wet days a month. That station sits about 526 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run a little warmer. The trip takes about an hour. Several other hikes start within about half a mile, including McCubbins 575B: Morel and McCubbins 575A: Kents. Bear Springs Campground is about a mile away for an overnight stay.
