Orchard Loop is a 10.8-mile out-and-back hike on natural trail in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Barlow Ranger District. The route starts at about 3,233 feet and climbs to 3,531 feet before returning. The total elevation gain is about 1,640 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at around 2.1 miles in, with a grade of 18 percent. The Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Government Camp weather station, about 16 miles away and roughly 450 feet lower, show July and August highs near 70°F with only about four wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the upper 30s and rain on most days. Spring Drive RV Campground is less than a mile away, and Bear Springs Campground is about 1.1 miles off. For more time on foot, McCubbins Trail #576G lies just 0.1 mile from the start. Beaver Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 7.5 miles away.
