Lamb Mine is an easy, short hike of about 1.4 miles on a natural-surface trail in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon. It's a low-elevation out-and-back, with the high point at about 3,493 feet and the low at about 3,465 feet, so the total climb is just 34 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from June 1 through October 31. It's not an accessible trail, and it works for horses and bikes as well as for foot traffic. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Howard Prairie Dam weather station, 17 miles away, show July and August highs around 79°F with only a couple of wet days a month. Winter is cold and snowy, with highs in the mid-30s and snow on about nine days a month from December through February. Lower Marty's and Marty's Tie are both within a few tenths of a mile, and Marty's is about 0.3 miles away. For something different, Mt. Ashland's Dream Boulder is about 4.3 miles off.
