Expressway is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Bend/Fort Rock Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 2.3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 168 feet, and it starts at roughly 4,019 feet, rising to a high point of about 4,059 feet before returning to the start. The route is natural-surfaced and allows bikes, and horses are not permitted. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 0.43 miles in, where the grade reaches about 7 percent. The trip takes about an hour, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bend show July highs around 84°F with lows near 49°F and only about two wet days, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days each month. Widgi Creek, a climbing area, is about 0.9 miles away, and the hikes Ben's and Elv are each about a mile off. The Deschutes River, a paddling spot, lies about 4.2 miles away.
