Dickey Lake Trail is a moderate out-and-back hike in Oregon's Bull of the Woods Wilderness, part of the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs about 2.5 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 2,082 feet. The route starts at a low point of about 3,913 feet and climbs to a high of about 4,947 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.67 miles in, with a grade of 26 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Santiam Junction, which sits roughly 1,200 feet lower, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 24°F. The hike takes about two hours. Dickey Lake and Pansy Lake are both within a mile, and Mother Lode is about a mile away. For an overnight stay, Elk Lake Campground is about 5 miles off.
