Bagby Trail #544 is an expert-level hike in the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back that climbs about 4,690 feet over a total of 21.4 miles, with the high point at 4,899 feet. The climb is front-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes at about 5.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 54 percent. The trip starts at roughly 2,318 feet and climbs to the summit before descending back to the starting point. Because the trail is rated expert and the elevation gain is steep, it's a serious outing suited for experienced hikers. Bagby Trail lies about a mile away. Hot Springs Fork, a canoeing spot, is also close, and Baty Butte and Kingfisher campground round out the nearby options.
