Ledge Area is a climbing area in the Hudson Gorge Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits within the wilderness, and the surrounding land is part of the same protected unit. The area is a cluster of mixed routes, with six climbing routes in total. They range from 5.6 to 5.10a on the YDS scale, and all are mixed climbs. The routes include Aquarius (5.6), Cosmic Ray (5.7+), Solar Wind (5.7+), Asterisk (5.8), Sagittarius (5.8+) and Starline (5.10a). Starline is the hardest of the bunch, and Aquarius is the easiest. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Indian Lake put July highs around 75°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Other climbing areas are close by. Starbuck Right is about 0.1 mile away and Right End is about 0.3 mile away. For a walk, Ok Slip Falls Trail is about 2 miles off, and Ross Pond Trail is about 2.1 miles away.
