Chimney Mountain is a climbing area in New York's Siamese Ponds Wilderness, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits within the wilderness, and the closest town is Indian Lake, about 5 miles away. The climbing here is all traditional, with five routes on record. Three of them, Southwest Ridge and Sunfall at 5.6 and Windfall at 5.7, are the most commonly listed. The grades are modest, so the area works well for climbers looking for a straightforward trad outing. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. That station sits about 1,000 feet below the mountain, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler. Several other outings lie close by.
