Dry Brook Trail is a short, easy hike in New York's Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is 0.78 miles long, and it rises from about 626 feet to 730 feet, with a total elevation gain of 274 feet. The route is a point-to-point path, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.36 miles in, where the grade reaches 23 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Point, NY, show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, while July averages about 85°F. That station sits roughly 410 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run a bit cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The closest neighbors are the Casino Trail and the Wilkinson Memorial Trail, both about a mile away, and the Fishkill Ridge Trail is about 1.4 miles off. Climbers can find Storm King Mountain about 4.7 miles away.
