Overlook Trail is a 1.7-mile hike in New York's Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail rises from about 858 feet to a high point of 1,409 feet, with a total elevation gain of 683 feet, and is rated easy. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is moderate in the middle of the hike. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from the Stormville, NY weather station, about 10 miles away, show May highs near 72°F and September highs near 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. That station sits roughly 500 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The White Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Fishkill Ridge Trail is about 0.8 mile off. For a longer outing, the Dry Brook Trail lies about 1.7 miles away, and Storm King Mountain, a climbing area, is about 6 miles away.
