North Baldy is a hard hike in the Magdalena Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, about 10.6 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 1,525 feet. The trail is an out-and-back that starts at a low point of about 9,310 feet and climbs to a high point of about 10,457 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. That makes it a flexible option for a longer trip or a multi-day outing with gear. South Baldy and East Fork Sawmill are both about 0.3 miles away, and Water Canyon Road is a similar distance. Water Canyon Campground, about 3.7 miles off, is the closest place to camp.
