Eye of the Sandias to Embudo is an easy out-and-back hike of about 3.2 miles in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The trail rises from a low point of about 7,421 feet to a high of about 7,850 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 515 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Sandia Park, which sits about 820 feet lower than the trail's high point, show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with lows in the low to mid 40s. Winter is cold, with January highs near 44°F and lows around 19°F. The route links the Eye of the Sandias to Embudo, and several other destinations sit close by. Mano Eye of the Sandias Link is about half a mile away, and Upper Fat City Drainage (a.k.a. Embudo Canyon) is about 0.7 miles off. The Embudo Bypass and Three Gun Spring Arroyo Trail are each about 0.9 miles away.
