Embudo is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Sandia Foothills, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The trail runs about 5.5 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of 1,530 feet, from a low point of 6,355 feet to a high of 7,905 feet. The land is managed as city land. The route is natural-surfaced and not accessible. Bikes are not allowed. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the Sandia Park weather station, about 10 miles away, show May highs near 73°F and September highs near 77°F, with July and August highs around 83°F. That station sits roughly 875 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The hike is open year-round. The Mano Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Embudo Bypass and Boulder B climbing area are each about 0.3 mile off. The Ozzy Boulder climbing area is about half a mile away.
