Embudo Bypass is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.5 miles in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The trail sits within the Sandia Foothills, on city-managed land, and it rises from about 6,455 feet to about 6,770 feet. The route is natural-surfaced and rated easy, with a one-way climb of about 300 feet. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not, and the trail is not accessible. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 78°F and October highs around 68°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 11 each month. Several other routes and climbing areas lie close by. Mano Trail is about 0.2 miles away, Embudo is about 0.3 miles away, and Boulder B and the Upper Fat City Drainage (a.k.a. Embudo Canyon) are each about half a mile off.
