Lovell Canyon Trail is a 3.2-mile out-and-back hike on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. It is an out-and-back route that climbs from about 5,978 feet to about 6,270 feet, for a total elevation gain of 412 feet. The trail is rated moderate and is managed by the Forest Service. Horses are allowed on this trail, and it is natural-surfaced. Bikes are not permitted. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Charleston show July highs around 79°F with lows near 52°F, and September highs around 72°F. That station sits about 1,200 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the canyon are typically a bit warmer. Lovell Canyon Loop lies about 0.9 miles away, and Griffith Shadow Trail and Schaefer Springs Loop are each within about 1.5 miles. Climbers can head to The Promised Land, about 3.6 miles off.
