Kleckner Creek is a hard hike in the Ruby Mountains Wilderness, part of the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in northeastern Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 6,300 feet to about 9,460 feet over roughly 14.4 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 2,560 feet. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The route is long and steep, so plan for a full day on foot. Several other destinations sit close by. Castle Lake and Favre Lake are both within a mile, Colonel Moore is about 1.5 miles away, and Thomas Canyon Campground is about 5 miles off.
