Overland Lake is a moderate hike in the Ruby Mountains Wilderness, part of the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in northeastern Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 6,659 feet to about 9,385 feet over a round-trip distance of about 10.6 miles. The one-way gain is about 2,556 feet. The trail is open to horses, and bikes are not allowed. That makes it a good fit for riders on horseback or for hikers who want to move at a slower pace. Several other hikes sit within a few miles. Rock Shortcut is about 2.1 miles away, Rock House about 2.3 miles, Graveyard Basin about 2.8 miles, and Tipton about 3.2 miles.
