Island Lake is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.6 miles in the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The trail rises from a low point of 8,780 feet to a high of 9,681 feet, with a one-way gain of about 903 feet, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trail is natural surfaced and bikes are allowed. The Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail and Lamoille Stock both start within a tenth of a mile of the trailhead at Roads End, making it easy to link one or the other to this hike. Thomas Canyon Campground sits about 3.3 miles away, and Favre Lake is about 2 miles off.
