Favre Lake is an easy hike of about 2.8 miles in the Ruby Mountains Wilderness of Nevada, on the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The trail is an out-and-back, with the low point at 9,512 feet and the high point at 10,112 feet, so the climb is a modest one-way gain of about 77 feet. The route is on natural surface and open to horses, and it is closed to bikes. The trail is within designated wilderness and is managed by the Forest Service. It is open year-round, which makes it a good choice for a short outing in any season. Castle Lake and Kleckner Creek are both about 0.6 miles away, and the Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail is about 1.9 miles off. For an overnight stay, Thomas Canyon Campground lies about 4.6 miles from the trail.
